A local firm has finished construction on two new buildings along a major industrial corridor.

Grand Rapids-based First Companies said last month it completed the industrial buildings in Kentwood, near Ford airport, along Patterson Avenue SE: an 82,000-square-foot building for ETO Magnetic Corp., at 5925 Patterson Ave. SE; and a 124,000-square-foot building for Gourmet International, at 5253 Patterson Ave. SE.

ETO manufactures electromagnetic components for the auto industry, and Gourmet International imports and distributes more than 3,000 food items.

Both projects began in late 2016 and finished during the first quarter of this year.

The costs of the projects were not disclosed.

Ada-based Dixon Architecture designed the buildings, and First Companies completed the construction for two ownership groups.

“First Companies began developing land near the airport in the early 1970s and continues to support industrial and manufacturing businesses looking to locate or expand in this area,” said Craig Baker, president, First Companies

Gourmet International’s building features 16,000 square feet of office space, including for executives, storage and employee training. The company’s storage area is temperature-controlled with refrigerated rooms and a large freezer.

Both buildings consist of large warehouse portions.
