A publication has named a food maker in the region among the best companies in the U.S. for diversity.
The 2019 DiversityInc “Top 50 Companies for Diversity” ranking, published May 8, gives Battle Creek-based Kellogg Company the No. 21 spot.
Kellogg Company is also included in the “Top Companies for LGBT Employees” specialty list by DiversityInc.
AT&T took first place in the “Top 50” ranking this year, followed by Marriott International, ADP, Hilton and Eli Lilly and Company.
General Motors ranks at No. 23, while Dow is at No. 37.
The DiversityInc “Top 50” ranking, issued annually since 2001, recognizes the nation’s top companies for diversity and inclusion management. The selected companies “excel in such areas as hiring, retaining and promoting women, minorities, people with disabilities, LGBT and veterans,” according to DiversityInc.
“DiversityInc Top 50 companies have a decisive advantage, because they treat people more fairly than other companies,” said Luke Visconti, founder and CEO, DiversityInc. “Everybody, including white men, are far better off working for them, because there is more opportunity at better-run companies. ‘Top 50’ companies also deliver a greater-than-average return for shareholders.”
The program evaluates companies with at least 1,000 U.S. employees that filled out the free DiversityInc survey.
Companies are then reviewed in an editorial process that takes into consideration 150 data points from the application, which are grouped into four key areas: talent pipeline, talent development, leadership accountability and supplier diversity.
In addition to the “Top 50” ranking, DiversityInc also publishes a list of “Noteworthy Companies for Diversity” and an array of specialty lists that evaluate companies on specific subsets of data.
