A food-as-medicine service now is shipping its meals throughout the Midwest.

Dr. Erica Armstrong, a board-certified family medicine and functional medicine physician who is founder and owner of Root Functional Medicine, said Friday, May 27, the business’ Root Farmacy is expanding delivery of its fresh, 100% gluten- and dairy-free meal service to reach a large portion of the Midwest, including Chicago; Detroit; Indianapolis; Columbus and Cleveland, Ohio; and parts of Wisconsin.

Root’s team of doctors and dietitians design the Root Farmacy meals especially to treat those who have polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), thyroid, gut health and food sensitivity issues.

The meals are created to help improve energy, mood and digestion; reduce cravings; lose weight associated with inflammation; and balance hormones.

The available meal plans are six meals for $94 per week and 10 meals for $147.

“We estimate that to shop for, prep and cook six different meals would cost $350 and take 10 to 12 hours of your time,” Root said. “We are confident that signing up for Root Farmacy will save you both time and money while improving how you feel every day that you eat Farmacy meals.”

People can either pick up their meals from the Root Farmacy, at 1003 Lake Drive SE in Grand Rapids, or they can enter their ZIP code here to see if Root delivers to their area.

Sign-ups are limited and first-come, first-served.
