A Grand Rapids food truck caught fire yesterday.

The Daddy Pete’s BBQ food truck was engulfed in flames.

The truck was a recent addition to the business.

“We are sickened…devastated,” owners Cory Davis and Tarra Davis say in a Facebook post shared yesterday. “This truck has been in the making since last year and hit the ground running as soon as it was completed.”

The couple’s restaurant in Grand Rapids, at 2921 Eastern Ave. SE, is closed today after staying open on Wednesday following the fire.

“Cory and I have been absolutely overwhelmed by the outpouring of encouragement and support of soooo many people,” Tarra Davis says in another Facebook post shared early today. “With that said, we hope you guys don’t mind if we take a break today.”

The restaurant will open again on Friday.

The company has operated a food truck and catering business since 2012, before opening its brick-and-mortar location in November 2016.
