Gerald R. Ford International Airport and United Airlines have announced that the airport will now offer daily non-stop service to Washington Dulles International Airport, beginning on May 1.

ExpressJet, operating under the United Express banner, will operate the twice daily, non-stop service with 50 seat Embraer regional jet aircraft. Scheduled weekday departures from GFIA will be at 9:15 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., with scheduled arrivals back at GFIA at 2:05 p.m. and 8:23 p.m. Tickets for the new service are currently available for purchase.

United currently serves Grand Rapids via hubs in Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Houston and New York.

“We are very pleased to be a part of United Airlines’ expanding network,” said Brian Ryks, GFIA executive director. “The addition of service to Washington Dulles International not only offers our West Michigan flyers a non-stop flight to our nation’s capital, it also provides excellent domestic and international connections through another major hub airport.”

The airport said the new service would bring the number of non-stop destinations available at GFIA to 22.
