Passenger travel through Gerald R. Ford International Airport for 2015 has already surpassed last year’s record-breaking numbers.

The airport said today that through November 2015, year-to-date passenger numbers totaled 2,347,424, surpassing the previous year’s passenger count of 2,335,105.

Currently, passenger numbers are up 9.57 percent from 2014.

The airport said a record-breaking November also marks the first year that it has served more than 200,000 passengers in the month, with 205,088 passengers enplaned and deplaned, a 14.16-percent increase.

The airport saw its biggest month of the year in July, with 234,282 passengers passing through, which was also the best month in airport history.

“2015 has been another tremendous year for passenger growth,” said Brian Ryks, executive director, Ford airport.

Ryks added that the continued growth has led the airport’s airline partners to take interest by “investing in more seats through the introduction of larger aircraft and additional non-stop routes to and from Grand Rapids.”
