Founders Brewing Co. announced today it will distribute its summer seasonal beer, All Day IPA, in cans.

The light-bodied sessionable IPA will be available across the brewery's distribution footprint in 12 packs of 12 oz. cans.

Founders looked into finding the right canning line that allows for the same quality that comes off the bottling line.

“For this new canning line, we turned to the same manufacturer of our bottling line, world beverage industry leader Krones,” said Vice President of Operations Brad Stevenson. “We are 100 percent confident in both this line and this package.”

Cans are widely seen as safer for the environment and easier to take on outdoor adventures, a philosophy the company advocates.

“Especially in our recreational home state of Michigan, cans are a very functional package,” Founders co-founder and CEO Mike Stevens said. “It means people will be able to enjoy our beer at golf courses, marinas and while hiking or camping. And we think All Day IPA works in a can particularly well.”

All Day IPA joins several other Michigan beers in cans, such as Arcadia Ale's Whitsun and Sky High Rye, Brewery Vivant and Rochester Mills, among others.

The brewery plans to look into releasing other beers in cans.

All Day IPA won a silver medal at the 2010 Great American Beer Festival.
