It should be no surprise that in the land of Furniture City, universities take their furniture seriously.

Ferris State University has begun a hosting a University Center Lounge Furniture Expo, with lounge seating, chairs and tables, in the Interdisciplinary Resource Center connector, at 1301 S State St., Big Rapids.

The expo began last month and will run until Oct. 25.

FSU wants to know what kind of furniture the campus wants in its planned $33.9 million “living room” — a project aimed at renovating FSU’s Ranking Student Center into a modern space for students and staff to meet, study relax and dine. The project is expected to be completed by December of 2014.

“It is important to get community feedback on a project like this, because it will be “a destination for the entire campus community,” said Karen Simmon, FSU project manager. “We are very excited to have the new furniture on campus and to be able to get feedback from students and the campus community.”

FSU said people can offer feedback on the furniture on social media, including FSU’s Facebook page and via Twitter
