A global technology company with a local presence named a new CEO.

Configura, an international developer of CET Designer software, appointed Stefan Persson as new CEO effective Feb. 3.

With more than 25 years of experience in leading management positions and a focus on developing global businesses and teams, Persson will aid Configura’s plan to grow globally in the coming years.

“What excites me about Configura is its strong company culture with employees at its core and a genuine interest and commitment to generate value to their partners and customers,” Persson said. “Configura is already on a steady growth path. With a world-leading product technology, a strong financial position and an initiated global expansion.”

His most recent accomplishments include leadership positions within the global SW/ERP company IFS and the customer journey management solution company Qmatic, where he was engaged in product marketing and development, supply chain and factory operations. Most recently, his focus has been on sales execution and strategy, including leading and developing Qmatic’s global partner business.

Configura’s previous CEO and co-founder, Johan Lyreborn, will remain with the company as part of the board, focusing on strategies regarding new markets and industries and support sales.

“I’m excited that we’ve finalized the search process, and I’m confident in our decision,” Lyreborn said. “Moving forward, I will support Stefan and our sales team. Stepping down from the position as CEO will give me more time to focus on spreading our vision and how we generate customer value through our core philosophy: parametric graphical configuration.”

Headquartered in Sweden, Configura has had a presence in Grand Rapids since opening its regional office at 100 Grandville Ave. SW in 2005.

The Grand Rapids office, now located at 35 Oakes St. SW, has 57-plus employees and services local clients like Steelcase, Haworth, Herman Miller, Leland International and Nucraft.

Over the next three years, Configura plans to double in size with a focus on product development and expanding its partner network. The vision is to become the leading global software provider for people who design spaces.

CET Designer is a space-planning software for the commercial furniture, material handling, kitchen and bath, and health care industries.
