The Grand Rapids area hosted one of the best golf tournaments of 2015.

The Meijer LPGA Classic took home seven awards, including the Dave Goff Series Award, at the LPGA Annual Gold Driver Awards, which recognizes event management and marketing.

The Dave Goff Series Award is considered the top prize awarded by the LPGA and Tournament Owners Association and recognizes the entire body of work from a tournament.

“We are thrilled to receive this recognition for the Meijer LPGA Classic – just in its second year,” Tournament Director Lesley Baker said. “Meijer really goes above and beyond to make this a cannot-miss event in the Grand Rapids community, all while supporting local food pantries through Simply Give.”

The 2016 Meijer LPGA Classic will be June 13-19 at Blythefield Country Club, with proceeds heading to the Meijer Simply Give hunger-relief program.

Last year’s tournament sent $750,000 to the program.

“We are dedicated to making the Meijer LPGA Classic an event the community can stand behind, and this award highlights that effort,” Meijer Co-Chairman Doug Meijer said. “This event continues to exceed our expectations, and we cannot thank the community enough for their continued support.”
