A local nonprofit is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a block party downtown on Monday.

Goodwill of Greater Grand Rapids is producing its Garage Sale at Garage Bar & Grill in Grand Rapids, at 819 Ottawa Ave. NW, from 6-10 p.m.

Block party

The event will feature a silent auction of 50 items from Goodwill’s online store, in addition to a handful of donated items from local sponsors.

Donated items include bikes, brewery tours, new shoes and modern furniture and some can be viewed at Goodwill’s Facebook event page.

There will be live music performed by Brena, which was recently voted West Michigan’s best cover band by Revue Magazine readers. Brena will perform at 7 p.m.

The Garage Sale will also feature a free buffet from 6-8 p.m., covered by a small donation for event admission.

Attendees are asked to bring a five-item donation to support Goodwill’s mission. In lieu of donating five items, a $5 donation is accepted.
