Goodwill is expanding in Grand Rapids.
Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids will open a new store this Saturday.
The store, at 956 Michigan St. NE, was formerly a Walgreens and will have a drive-thru donation area, according to a Goodwill announcement.
The building has been completely remodeled and will be similar to the newly renovated Jenison store.
Goodwill said the interior has been updated with a “trendy color scheme to feel more like a traditional retail store.”
The store will create 20 new jobs.
“We are excited to have a presence on Michigan Street,” said Jill Wallace, Goodwill Grand Rapids’ chief marketing and community relations officer. “The community fits our shopper demographic and provides convenience for those donors that work and or live near the Michigan corridor.”
Goodwill said it’s “thrilled” to be in the neighborhood, as its workforce development offices are nearby on Grand Avenue.
Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids, founded in 1966, is a nonprofit organization “dedicated to changing lives through the power of work.”
