Beer taps across Grand Rapids are getting ready for a busy week.
This year’s GR Beer Week, which leads into the Michigan Brewers Guild Winter Beer Festival, starts Sunday and end on Feb. 22.
It’s a full week of tap takeovers, beer dinners, samplings and lessons across the city — in hopes of promoting the industry that’s slowly turning into a powerhouse in Grand Rapids and Michigan.
The area and state just took home a slew of top ratings from RateBeer.com "best of" rankings, including Founders Brewing Co., HopCat and Siciliano’s Market.
The week-long event will feature several highlights.
Perrin Brewing in Comstock Park will host several tap takeovers throughout the week at places such as Stella’s Lounge and Big Bob’s Pizza.
Smitty’s Specialty Beverage and Siciliano’s Market, both in Grand Rapids, will host several sampling events each throughout the week, including events with Frankenmuth Brewery and Right Brain Brewing.
The B.O.B. will host a beer dinner downtown featuring many Grand Rapids breweries on Feb. 19.
Kuhnhenn Brewing, Arcadia Ales and Petoskey Brewing also all have events scheduled for the week.
Winter Beer Fest
The week culminates with the Winter Beer Fest, which sold-out in about four hours and will be held in the elements at the Fifth Third Ballpark parking lot.
