The Roller Girls are bringing a bit of mayhem to town tomorrow.

The city’s Grand Raggidy Roller Girls are hosting a Beer Brawl roller derby doubleheader at 6 p.m., Saturday, at Rivertown Sports in Grandville. The team is sponsored by Schmohz Brewing Co. and New Holland Brewing Co.

Tickets purchased in advance will be entered to win a pair of tickets to the Michigan Brewers Guild Winter Beer Festival. The festival in February, recently expanded to two days, sold out its Saturday session in less than an hour earlier this week.

“This is a fun game we do every year to get our sponsors involved,” said spokesperson Jennifer Lynch. “We are also on the brink of our 10-year anniversary and have some really great things planned for our upcoming games like big tailgates before our (matches).”

Lynch said the team regularly attracts about 350 people to each event.

The roller girls will take on the Killamazoo Killa Crew in the first game and a combined group of girls from Grand Raggidy and some All Stars will face the Battle Creek Cereal Killers.

The Cereal Killers are sponsored by Arcadia Brewing Co.

Grand Raggidy has won this annual doubleheader the past two years.

Aside from the roller derby action, there will craft beer offerings from New Holland and Schmohz. There also will be a lighter beer such as Coors Light available.

Bud’s Burgers will be on hand for concessions, including hot dogs and tacos.

Also available will be handcrafted posters designed for the event and a variety of free swag. Each game has a unique set of posters, some signed by the skaters.

Tickets for the event are $12 in advance or $15 at the door, with discounts for kids, students and seniors. Tickets purchased at participating breweries — New Holland, Schmohz, Elk Brewing Co., Harmony Brewing Co., Gravel Bottom Brewery and Grand Rapids Brewing Co. — will be eligible to win a pair of tickets to the Winter Beer Festival. The tickets purchased at the brewery then must be turned in at the event, and the winner must be present to win.
