It's party time in Grand Rapids.

The Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce plans to host its second annual Grand Rapids House Party on Wednesday.

The event will showcase the city and its residents and provide a networking forum, giving people “a chance to make new friends and build new relationships,” said Latricia Trice, senior director of GRACC marketing and communications.

Last year, a crowd of about 200 guests arrived, Trice said, adding that they expect about the same amount this year.

“As the chamber, one of our goals is build a magnetic and welcoming community, and this helps us achieve that goal,” Trice said.

“The inaugural House Party was a lot of fun last year,” said Mary Smith, corporate relocation manager at Greenridge Realty. “I caught up with old friends, met a number of interesting new people and learned more about living and working in Grand Rapids from our House Party hosts and homeowners.”

Cocktail parties

Cocktail parties, hosted by GRACC members and friends, will begin at 5:30 p.m. and be held in residential areas, including Baker Lofts, Belknap Lookout, East Grand Rapids, Heritage Hill and River House Condos.

The “afterglow”

The cocktail parties will be followed at 7:30 p.m. by an “afterglow” reception party held at Open Systems Technologies, at 605 Seward Ave. NW, Grand Rapids. The reception will feature three floors of food, music and dancing.

Tickets are $60 a person and $40 to attend only the afterglow reception at OST.

People can register for tickets online or by calling 616-771-0303.
