Thanks to a gift from Meijer, the Grand Rapids Art Museum will host Meijer Free Tuesdays — for the next two years.

The gift supports free general admission from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Tuesday at GRAM, which the art museum hopes will encourage new and returning visitors to explore the galleries and take advantage of tours and other programs it offers on these dates.

Regular admission to the GRAM is $8 per person and free for GRAM members and children ages five and under.

”Our father was passionate about art and believed it should be available for everyone to enjoy and discover,” said Hank Meijer, co-chairman of the Grand Rapids-based retailer. “We are pleased to honor him by offering Meijer Free Tuesdays at the Grand Rapids Art Museum, so that others can learn, interpret and discover culture through a different lens.”

"We are especially grateful to Meijer for their support of GRAM and our service to the whole community," said Dana Friis-Hansen, GRAM director & CEO. "With the end of the school year and summer approaching, Meijer Free Tuesdays are the perfect opportunity for everyone to dive into the museum experience, exploring both the collections and special exhibitions. We know that Meijer Free Tuesdays will be popular with both adults and families, whether they live nearby or are visiting West Michigan for work or pleasure."
