There are two new members of the board at the Grand Rapids Ballet.
The ballet said today that Theresa DeVries and Amy Norkus are joining the board of Michigan's only professional ballet company, which is celebrating its 43rd anniversary this year.
DeVries is a client executive at Hylant, an insurance brokerage, with more than 20 years of experience in human resources management.
“Grand Rapids Ballet is very close to my heart, as I was a senior company member of its predecessor, the Grand Rapids Civic Ballet,” DeVries said. “I am honored to have the pleasure to serve on the board of directors. I can’t imagine a world without the gift of dance — little else has the ability to stir human essence like dance. I will never stop dancing.”
Norkus, with Paul Goebel Group Insurance, has more than 20 years of accounting and consulting under her belt.
“I’m thrilled to be involved with such a growing organization,” Norkus said. “Growing up, I took ballet, tap and jazz lessons. The lessons I learned during those formative years helped to shape who I am today. “
