Brewery Vivant and Founders Brewing Co. aren’t the only breweries in Grand Rapids that can make waves at the international level with their beers.

Grand Rapids Brewing Co. had four beers medal at the World Beer Championship in February.

The World Beer Championship is put on by Tastings.com and is separate from the World Beer Cup associated with the Brewers Association.

The brewpub’s Rosalynn Bliss Blonde, named after Grand Rapids City Commissioner Rosalynn Bliss, took home gold in the Fruit Beer category.

“Minutely hazy golden color. Interesting aromas and flavors of dried mangos and peaches lead with a creampuff-like backnote. Very frothy and well carbonated with a crisp, toasty almond biscotti, green tea and white strawberry accented finish. Fun, flavorful and admirably non-cloying and refreshing,” said the beer judges from Tastings.com.

The brewery’s Fishladder IPA and Senator Lyon Stout both took home silver in the American IPA and Dry-Stout categories, respectively. Its John Ball Brown brought in bronze in the American Brown Ale category.

GRBC head brewer Jake Brenner, along with co-brewers Corey Nebbeling and Stu Crittenden, came up with the recipes for the all-organic beers.

“Corey and I are very excited about the reviews we’ve received by the judges,” Brenner said. “Brewing good beers is our passion. The best reward for this hard work is watching our customers enjoy our creations.”
