Grand Rapids Drive appoint head coach

There will be a new coach calling the plays this season for the Grand Rapids Drive.

The Detroit Pistons recently named Donnie Tyndall the new head coach of the team’s NBA G League affiliate.

Tyndall takes over for Ryan Krueger after having served as an assistant coach last season. Courtney Alexander, Cam Black and Jacob Porter will serve as his assistant coaches. The terms of their contracts were not disclosed.

Prior to joining the Drive, Tyndall was the assistant coach for the NBA G League team Raptors 905 from 2016-2018. He also served as head coach at the University of Tennessee for the 2014 season after coaching for two years at Southern Mississippi University.

Prior to that, Tyndall also was the head coach of Morehead State University from 2006-2012 and led Morehead to two NCAA Tournament appearances.

He was on the staff on Middle Tennessee University basketball teams from 2002-2006. Tyndall was an associate head coach at Idaho University in 2001-2002.
