The Grand Rapids Griffins will hold their 19th annual Griffins Youth Foundation Golf Classic next Monday, but it’ll be the first time as AHL Calder Cup champions.
The event, which is sponsored by Meijer, will tee off at 10 a.m. for the fifth consecutive year at the 36-hole Egypt Valley Country Club in Ada Township.
Half of the golfers will play 18 on the Ridge course, while the other half will tackle the Valley course.
In addition to the bunkers and sand traps, the courses will offer food and refreshments from Peppino’s Pizza, Buffalo Wild Wings and Leo’s Restaurant.
A dinner, a high-end raffle and an auction will be held in the clubhouse following play.
Griffins head coach Jeff Blashill, assistant coach Jim Paek, Griffins forward Luke Glendening and NHL veteran forward Mike Knuble are some of the celebrities who will take part in the event.
Registration and sponsors
Golfers and foursomes can still register for the classic by calling (616) 774-4585, ext. 3027.
Sponsorships are also still available at the same number.
The classic raised over $70,000 for the Griffins Youth Foundation last year and has raised more than $1 million over its 18-year history.
The foundation was started in 1995, and it enables 350 underprivileged, underserved and special-need kids to participate each year in its programs at no cost.
