“Home Alone” with the Grand Rapids Pops is taking center stage downtown this week.

The 1990 film will be screened as the symphony performs John Williams’ score on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at DeVos Performance Hall in Grand Rapids, at 303 Monroe Ave. NW.

The Grand Rapids Pops will be under the direction of Associate Conductor John Varineau, who is in his fourth decade serving as the symphony’s movie maestro.

The film is about an 8-year-old boy who was accidentally left behind by his family on Christmas vacation and must protect his home from a pair of inept burglars.
