Grand Rapids Pops producing ‘Blockbuster Broadway’

The sounds of Broadway are coming to downtown Grand Rapids.

The Grand Rapids Pops will present “Blockbuster Broadway” at the DeVos Performance Hall, at 303 Monroe Ave. NW, on Jan. 26-28.

The pops are part of the Grand Rapids Symphony.

There will be songs from a number of shows: “Wicked”; “The Lion King”; “Jersey Boys”; “Phantom of the Opera"; "Les Misérables"; “Chicago”; “The Sound of Music”; “Annie”; and more.

Guests will include Jessica Hendy, Scott Coulter, John Boswell and Kelli Rabke.

Hendy, who previously sang with the Grand Rapids Symphony, will sing “Circle of Life” from “The Lion King,” “Memory” from “Cats” and “Defying Gravity” from “Wicked.”

Coulter, an award-winning vocalist, who will sing “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” with the Grand Rapids Symphony, among other songs.

Boswell, a music director, pianist and vocalist, will sing “You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feelin’” from “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.”

Rabke was a narrator in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and “Les Misérables.” She will perform “I Dreamed a Dream.”

“Blockbuster Broadway” music was co-arranged by Boswell and Coulter.
