Grand Rapids ranks as No. 5 ‘most-hipster’ market in US

Hipsters love to call Grand Rapids home.

Analytic and marketing service provider Infogroup ranks Grand Rapids No 5. in its ranking of “The top 10 most hipster U.S. metro areas.” The company shared its ranking today.

Grand Rapids is the only Midwest market to make the top 10.

Infogroup determined the ranking by looking at metro areas with more than one-million people and their concentrations of “hipster” businesses per 10,000 residents.

“Hipster” businesses include breweries, record stores, thrift shops, tattoo parlors, live entertainment venues, bicycle dealers and coffee shops.

Infogroup says Grand Rapids has a high concentration of thrift shops, coffee shops and tattoo parlors.
