The top-10 sandwiches from this year’s Grandwich competition have been selected by voters.
The past two weeks, Grand Rapids diners have voted online for their favorite sandwiches from 38 restaurants.
“The sixth year of Grand Rapids’ signature sandwich event has been the biggest contest to date,” said Mark Lewis, president and CEO, Neighborhood Ventures, which produces the competition.
“It’s always fun to witness the creative talent and culinary skills of our neighborhood and downtown restaurants. Fans love the variety that the Grandwich competition offers and the opportunity to try unfamiliar restaurants. Chefs love to push the boundaries for taste.
“We’re proud to organize this fun annual event showcasing great Grand Rapids businesses.”
Judging
The top-10 sandwiches will be tasted on July 28 by a panel of six judges, with the first, second and third-place winners being announced at 4 p.m.
A popular winner, decided by public vote, will also be announced.
The panel of Grandwich judges represents a cross section of the city: MLive’s Amy Sherman and John Gonzalez; Valley City Linen’s Anna Anderson; Grand Rapids Community College Secchia Institute for Culinary Education’s John Sebestyen and Charles Olawsky; and Grand Rapids Police Department Deputy Chief Daniel Savage.
