Paw Paw beverage companies are coming together to host an event celebrating the wine and beer culture that has developed there over the decades.
St. Julian Winery and Paw Paw Brewing Co. will host the Uncork Paw Paw: Grapes & Grains Festival this Saturday, from 2-10 p.m., at the winery — at 716 S. Kalamazoo St. in Paw Paw.
Local fare
The festival will feature local music, drinks and food to celebrate the community.
Paw Paw Brewing will have a limited-edition Barrel Aged Cherry Stout, and St. Julian will have a special Gunga Din Cider on hand.
Both Paw Paw Brewing Co., which opened in 2010, and St. Julian, which opened more than 90 years ago, focus on using local ingredients.
Amore Pizza will serve pizzas and sandwiches.
Nonprofit beneficiary
The $5 admission fee will go to the Two Rivers Coalition, a nonprofit working to preserve rivers and lakes in Van Buren County.
“We’re excited not only to bridge the gap between craft beer and fine wine, but to also bring awareness to the importance of maintaining our rivers and streams, which, in turn, secures a great future for Michigan beer and wine,” said Paw Paw Brewing Co. owner Ben Fleckenstein.
