The Grand Rapids Griffins didn’t repeat as Calder Cup Champions, but the front office took home some honors for the 2013-14 season.
The Griffins’ ticket sales department was recognized as the American Hockey League’s department of the year, and the club’s digital media staff also earned the AHL business services award among Western Conference teams.
The awards mark the second time in four years the ticket sales department has been honored. Last season, the Griffins ranked second in attendance among AHL teams and enjoyed an increase in attendance for the fourth season in a row.
The AHL also honored teams for community relations and fan experience.
With the accolades, the Griffins also announced some shifting among personnel in the front office, including the promotions of Matt Batchelder, Zack Krywyj and Mike Myeno.
Batchelder will be the team’s new vice president of ticket sales, following his two-season stint as senior director of ticket sales.
Under Batchelder's supervision, the sales team helped increase attendance for the third and fourth consecutive seasons. He has been with the Griffins for 14 years.
Krywyj, a four-year employee, will now be the team’s group sales account manager. Last season, he helped the team earn more than $1 million in group ticket revenue, hitting that mark for the second consecutive year.
Myeno joined the Griffins in 2011 as an intern and accepted a full-time job last season as a season ticket sales and customer service executive.
After leading the Western Conference in full-season-equivalent ticket revenue, Myeno will be the Griffins’ ticket sales and customer service account manager.
