A locally based grocery store chain is rolling out an expedited shopping experience.

Byron Center-based SpartanNash said Monday afternoon it launched its Fast Lane program at the Grandville Family Fare supermarket.

The “click-and-collect” program allows customers to shop online and pick up their orders outside the store.

SpartanNash expects to grow the program to 25 stores this year and up to 50 stores in 2018. The next West Michigan stores to launch will be announced soon.

The online orders will be picked by Fast Lane personal shoppers.

Shoppers can include special notes in their orders, “allowing them to request green bananas, thick-sliced ham from the deli or the expiration date on their milk.” Customers' preferences will be saved in their Fast Lane accounts.

An order placed before 3 p.m. can be picked up the same day.

Fast Lane memberships are $99 a year, with monthly memberships available for $16.95. Individual orders can be placed for $9.95, which is waived under annual or monthly memberships.
