A group of female employees at a grocer have won national industry awards.

Grand Rapids-based SpartanNash said yesterday that the company had 10 associates honored in Progressive Grocer’s Top Women in Grocery Awards.

Candidates were nominated in three categories by the grocery trade publication: Rising Star, Senior Level Executives and Store Managers.

The publication honored 300 women this year.

Four of the SpartanNash honorees are from West Michigan.

Tammy Hurley, VP of finance

Hurley oversees finance operations for the company, which includes integrating the fiscal year, payroll, ledgers and asset management following the merger of Spartan Stores and Nash Finch. She’s also a member of Financial Executives International and Michigan Association of CPAs. Hurley won a Senior Level Executive Award.

Debra Cross, diversity and inclusion manager

Cross won a Rising Star Award as a primary contributor to the development of the SpartanNash Women Inclusion Network, an employee resource group.

Amy Berry, store director

Berry is the director of the D&W Fresh Market Parkview in Kalamazoo, one of the company’s top-performing stores. She’s heavily involved in the company’s strategic community initiatives, such as Habitat for Humanity and the Special Olympics.

Nicole Eckhardt, store director

Eckhardt is the director of Family Fare in Wyoming. She’s made many improvements to the store’s produce department, especially organics. She also restructured the store’s pharmacy.
