A product developed by an educational company focused on health care training and testing is going mobile.

Platinum Educational Group in Jenison said last month that it has launched its first app, Platinum Planner, which will offer all the features from its website via mobile devices.

The Platinum Planner app is made for Apple iOS and Google Droid devices.

The Platinum Planner website was released in 2012. It was created with the goal of bringing students, instructors, preceptors, school administrators and clinical sites together for “stress free” scheduling, reporting and skills tracking.

The website started with offerings for emergency medical services, or EMS, and has evolved to offer scheduling and skill tracking for the nursing and allied health fields.

The new Platinum Planner mobile app gives students the ability to input their information “no matter where they are and have their information sync up when Internet is available," which Platinum Educational Group said is perfect for hospital and lab settings where Internet access is “sketchy” or not available.

Doug Smith, Platinum’s CEO and co-founder, said it could be “years before anyone else can duplicate our Platinum Planner app.”

Platinum Educational Group provides “valid and reliable” online testing for EMT/paramedic and registered nursing educational institutions.
