A clinic that offers applied behavior analysis services opened its first clinic in West Michigan and ninth location in the state.
Gateway Pediatric Therapy offers fully customized treatment plans utilizing six private therapy rooms, as well as in-home services amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2,760-square-foot space is at 346 68th St. SW in Kentwood.
The new clinic will offer applied behavior analysis (ABA) services that target each child’s needs.
“Children with autism should never be without the help they need to fulfill their own unique potential, and families of these children should have access to the necessary supports,” said Lisa Bingham, Grand Rapids regional clinical director and board-certified behavior analyst. “Due to COVID-19, the 2020 school year and learning are being conducted much differently and our parents are concerned, rightfully so. We are stepping in to support with distance learning, modified schedules and other support to get families through a nontraditional school year.”
Gateway Pediatric Therapy ABA practitioners apply individualized treatment plans for each child that are intended to bring about meaningful outcomes, behaviors and foundational skills such as listening and communicating.
“We pride ourselves on offering the highest quality ABA therapy to families in each community we serve,” Bingham said. “Over the past several years, we have had the privilege of fulfilling this mission throughout metro Detroit, but our commitment to service doesn’t stop there. Our aim is to offer West Michigan families the same standards of quality care our clients throughout the U.S. have come to expect, and we couldn’t think of a better place to begin than Grand Rapids.”
Amid COVID-19, the team at Gateway Pediatric Therapy has worked at reduced capacity within the clinic. The team continues to follow safety protocol and guidelines by implementing increased sanitation through the clinic. Staff members are required to wear facemasks and maintain physical distance between one another while in the office. Daily health screenings and temperature checks of both employees and clients also are enforced.
Gateway Pediatric Therapy said it plans to continue its expansion throughout Michigan in the coming year. Alongside its Kentwood location, Gateway recently established locations in Shiawassee and Genesee counties with intentions to expand to Georgia in the coming year.
