Faith Hospice is celebrating 25 years of care by announcing plans to expand services and increase capacity to serve more patients and their families with a $2.86 million capital campaign.

The project, dubbed “Combining Care, Compassion and Commitment Under One Roof,” will expand Faith Hospice’s Trillium Woods campus and already has raised $1.5 million in funds.

Trillium Woods, built in 2006, is Grand Rapids’ only inpatient hospice facility and has served patients on only its upper floor for the past 14 years. The project was initiated by Faith Hospice staff due to increased demands for hospice and bereavement services and a growth in the number of families served by the organization.

“Combining Care, Compassion and Commitment” will create a dedicated grief support center with private and public spaces for individual, family and group bereavement counseling; consolidate Faith Hospice staff and volunteers; and create a staff respite and renewal center.

“After loss, those left often ask, ‘What is my life now?’,” said Janet Jaymin, bereavement manager at Faith Hospice. “Our new space will offer a welcoming, safe place for Faith Hospice families and others in the surrounding community with no expectations of the bereaved.”

The project also will create a hospice training and education space with a hands-on training lab. The lab will improve and enhance training through role-playing and skills testing leading to better and more effective patient and family hospice experiences.

Trillium Woods offers 20 private, spacious rooms with 24/7 medical care to meet the needs of its patients and their families. Faith Hospice serves over 300 people each day and has served more than 22,000 patients since 1995.

Faith Hospice will begin construction and renovation upon completion of the capital campaign. To donate, visit faithhospice.org or call (616) 235-5118.

Originally founded as Hospice of Holland Home in 1995, Faith Hospice is an organization promoting faith-based end-of-life care for people of all faith backgrounds.
