Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services promoted Dr. Gretchen Johnson to chief nurse executive.
Johnson is a doctor of nursing practice and a registered nurse board certified in psychiatric mental health nursing. She has worked at Pine Rest for 20 years in various roles, including a direct patient care provider and several managerial roles within the hospital.
“I am excited and pleased to make the transition to chief nurse executive for Pine Rest,” Johnson said. “Starting this transition in the midst of a pandemic certainly brings challenges, but we have an excellent team of nursing staff, clinicians, physicians, chaplains and other colleagues who commit to the work daily of instilling hope in those we serve.”
Johnson was instrumental in developing and opening the unique mother and baby day program at Pine Rest. In her behavioral health solutions role as director of nursing, she was a consultant for behavioral health units within other acute care hospitals throughout Michigan and, most recently, was Pine Rest’s director of education.
