Priority Health recently shared information regarding a cyber security incident that took place at the end of 2021.

An unauthorized individual in December accessed several Priority Health Member Portal (PHMP) accounts related to the provider’s Member Rewards Program.

The company determined the individual was able to view information within PHMP accounts that might have included names, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, insurance information, claims information and limited medical information. There was no evidence to suggest Social Security numbers were accessed, and no misuse was discovered, but the organization alerted all members and employers who potentially were impacted out of an abundance of caution. Priority Health also is providing a variety of services and measures to ensure safeguarding.

Upon discovering the incident, all access to PHMP accounts was put on hold from Dec. 16-21 to ensure affected accounts were secure. Further steps also were taken to bolster account security, including directing members to reset their passwords. In addition to working with external cyber security professionals, Priority Health also implemented multifactor authentication for all PHMP accounts on Jan. 18.

Priority Health is mailing letters to impacted members, and any concerned customers or those with further questions regarding the incident can contact privacy@priorityhealth.com. A toll-free response line also is available 7:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at 1 (800) 942-0954. Line operators also can offer suggestions to protect against any misuse of personal information.
