A patient services management company has opened a new facility in town for hundreds of employees.

MedData has moved from Sparks Drive SE in Grand Rapids into a 162,000-square-foot building in Cascade Township, at 5253 36th St. SE, which will primarily serve as a call center for the company’s service representatives, who work on behalf of health care providers to arrange patients’ financial matters.

The Brecksville, Ohio-based company invested $7 million to remodel 100,000 square feet of a 40-year-old building that has been vacant for five years.

There are about 290 people in the new facility, which has the capacity to accommodate 640 people.

The space includes a number of features and amenities: large office areas; conference rooms; flexible training areas; cafeteria; quiet room; private nursing area for mothers; IT development and management area; coaching rooms; phone booth rooms; multi-purpose recreational gym area; future child care area on campus; truck docks and warehouse storage; and room for growth.

Spence Galloway, EVP of operations for MedData, said the company needed “significant expansion space,” as its clients’ businesses grow.

The new building gives the company more space to develop and train employees and accommodate corporate events.

“Beyond just the building itself, western Michigan and Cascade Township is a vibrant community for our employees to live, work and play in,” Galloway said. “We’re fortunate to be in a region with such a deep talent pool, and building our facility in a desirable area like this will help us continue to attract and retain premium employees.”
