A local health plan has entered into a new agreement with a division of a global insurer to expand its reach.
Grand Rapids-based Priority Health said yesterday the agreement with Cigna Payer Solutions, a business within Cigna that works with third-party administrators, health plans and insurers.
Through the agreement, Priority Health members with coverage through their employer who live, work or travel out of state will have access to Cigna’s national PPO network, which features a variety of doctors, specialists, hospitals, labs and facilities.
Providers in Cigna’s network go through a comprehensive credentialing process to help ensure members receive quality care.
“As Priority Health continues to grow, we’re working with more employers who are also expanding their business here in Michigan and across the country,” said Joan Budden, president and CEO, Priority Health.
“Priority Health members already know that they get coverage from coast-to-coast in the state of Michigan,” Budden said. “Now … we’re offering a better and more seamless experience for our members who live, work or travel out of state as well.”
The new agreement will take effect this fall.
