A health system in the area has acquired a medical practice in town.

Metro Health – University of Michigan Health said yesterday it opened its first physician office off of E. Beltline Ave. NE in Grand Rapids Township, at 1787 Grand Ridge Ct. NE.

Metro Health Grand Rapids Northeast is the new name of the former Grand Rapids Family Physicians, which had been an independent practice since 1925.

The current staff — including Dr. David Kutsche, Dr. Gregory Hazle and Julie Cooper, DNO, NP-C — remain at the practice.

“We are looking forward to joining the Metro Health family and to providing our patients with greater access to a network of cutting-edge health care, medical research and innovation,” Kutsche said.

The practice offers various procedures and services: adult and pediatric medicine; newborn care; women’s care; sports physicals; fracture care; colposcopy; and skin lesion removal.

Metro Health said the office serves as a gateway to services offered by the system.

For instance, the office uses MyChart, giving patients access to electronic medical records and the ability to schedule appointments, request refills of prescriptions and view laboratory results and other test results.

The Metro Health Grand Rapids Northeast office is the third physician practice acquired by Metro Health – University of Michigan Health this year.

Metro Health Lowell and Metro Health OB/GYN joined the system in 2017.
