A health system is consolidating several services in the region into a new $20 million building.

Mercy Health has begun work on a 40,000-square-foot outpatient facility in Norton Shores, at 3570 Henry St., the location of a former Kmart.

Scheduled to open in February 2021, the facility will offer family medicine, urgent care, pharmacy, X-ray, physical therapy, aesthetic services and lab services.

The new location will consolidate three Muskegon primary care practices: Harborwood Family Medicine, at 1675 Leahy St.; Harbour Pointe, at 3587 Henry St.; and Norton Family Practice, at 3535 Park St.

Once open, the new facility will house 25 primary care providers.

The facility is being designed for “patient convenience,” bringing several key health care services under one roof.

"Mercy Health is striving to make health care more accessible to our patients," said Dr. Kristen Brown, president, Mercy Health Physician Partners. "This is an opportunity to bring together three of our established practices alongside diagnostic and specialty services, so that patients can receive care in one convenient location."

Similar outpatient facilities opened in North Muskegon and Hudsonville in 2018. Each of the facilities was designed through feedback contributed from patients and providers.

Brighton-based Lindhout Associates Architects is the architect on the project, and Holland-based Elzinga & Volkers is the project’s general contractor.
