A West Michigan health system has named a new regional vice president of advocacy and government relations.
Sean Gehle has been hired for the role for the Michigan region of Livonia-based Trinity Health, the parent company of Mercy Health, effective July 27.
Gehle will lead Trinity’s efforts to influence public policies that align with the health system’s mission, said Rob Casalou, president and CEO, Trinity Health Michigan.
He will have a dual reporting relationship with Casalou and Tina Weatherwax-Grant, VP of advocacy and public policy for Trinity Health. Gehle will be based in Lansing.
Gehle has led advocacy efforts for Ascension Michigan since 2004, most recently as chief advocacy officer since 2016, a role in which he helped shape the system's state and national agendas.
Previously, he was a legislative aide to Sen. George McManus Jr. and was a manager of legislative issues for MHA in the 1990s.
He holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Michigan State University and an M.B.A. from Western Michigan University.
