A health system’s board of directors has elected new officers and added two new members.
Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids said yesterday that Richard “Dick” M. DeVos, Jr. has been named chairman of the Spectrum Health System Board of Directors.
DeVos was elected to a two-year term.
The system board also elected current members Bob Roth as vice chairman and Beth Nickels as treasurer.
Both positions are two-year terms.
Roth and Nickels joined the system board in 2011.
DeVos’ history with Spectrum
DeVos joined the system board in 2010.
He is an emeritus member of both the Spectrum Health Foundation Board of Trustees and Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees, where he also served as chair.
Richard Breon, president and CEO of Spectrum Health, said DeVos “has been a valuable and committed leader on multiple boards for Spectrum Health.”
In addition, Bill Payne and Sean Welsh were elected to serve as members of the board.
They will each serve a three-year term.
Payne is vice chairman of Amway Corporation. He previously served as EVP and chief of staff at Amway and was responsible for "ensuring enterprise alignment, efficiency and effectiveness in a global environment."
Welsh is EVP and regional president of West Michigan for PNC. He previously served as SVP and division manager for National City’s Corporate Banking group in Chicago and northern Illinois.
The system board provides oversight and strategic direction to the Spectrum Health system, which includes Spectrum Health Hospital Group, Spectrum Health Medical Group and Priority Health.
