A woman with nearly 30 years of experience in business administration and human resources in various industries is the new senior vice president and chief HR officer at a health system.

Spectrum Health said last week that Pamela Ries, who has been with the organization since 2001, has accepted the position.

Ries started in the role on Jan. 10.

Responsibilities

Ries will lead talent strategies, initiate new approaches to support short-term and long-term business objectives and oversee HR functions throughout Spectrum Health.

Ries said Spectrum has advanced its HR practices by “cultivating partnerships with business development, business operations, technology and other areas,” and the health system will continue those practices.

“If we focus on these strategies and plan well for the future, all while keeping the fundamentals in check, we can improve the health of the communities we serve today and into the future,” Ries said.

Ries background

Ries has held several leadership positions in HR since she joined Spectrum Health, serving most recently as VP of total value and VP of human resources.

She has worked in numerous industries, including health care, insurance, financial services, education and public transportation.

Ries earned her undergraduate degree from Grace College and has completed graduate coursework in business administration and HR management.
