A senior living nonprofit is now contracting with a home health provider.

Mary Free Bed at Home is working with Sunset Retirement Communities & Services to offer in-home skilled nursing and rehabilitation care to Sunset residents, as well as members of the community, according to Mary Free Bed at Home last fall.

All Sunset residents who received Sunset home services are continuing the care through Mary Free Bed at Home.

Sixteen Sunset home services employees are now employed by Mary Free Bed at Home.

Sunset is continuing all of its other services, including homemaking, laundry, general assistance and daily check-ins.

Going forward, Sunset residents can take advantage of Mary Free Bed at Home’s additional programs, including vestibular therapy, stroke rehabilitation and complex wound care.

“For our skilled home services to continue to be successful in the future, we need to be part of a larger organization that can bring increased expertise and resources to those we serve,” said Steve Zuiderveen, president and CEO, Sunset Retirement Communities & Services.

Theresa Sluiter, director of clinical operations at Mary Free Bed at Home, said the opportunity to work with Sunset "enables Mary Free Bed at Home to reach more seniors in West Michigan.”

Mary Free Bed at Home is a joint venture between Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital and Residential Home Health.
