A maker of home-storage systems is consolidating its manufacturing into its expanded facility and plans to hire about 40 new full-time employees by the end of the year.

"Double-digit growth"

The Stow Company in Holland said the decision is part of a growth strategy that includes maximizing manufacturing capacities and leveraging a centralized, national shipping point.

The Stow Company makes storage and organization systems for all areas of the home: closets, garage, pantry, laundry, mudrooms, entertainment centers, wall beds and more.

“The Stow Company is on a strong path of double-digit growth for all of our brands, and expanding the capacity of our Holland manufacturing operation allows us to meet growing customer demand and maximize efficiencies, while keeping pricing competitive and maintaining market leadership,” said Randy Tallman, executive vice president of operations at The Stow Company.

The expanded Holland plant now has 200,000 square feet.

The contractor for the expansion was Holland-based Lakewood Construction.

The company is gradually ramping down manufacturing at its facility in Pine Brook, N.J., from now to the end of the year. The East Coast location will continue to house its EasyClosets line, administration, sales, service and pre-production teams.

The Stow Company, founded in 1984, is part of The Windquest Group, a holding company formed by Dick and Betsy DeVos.

The jobs

The new jobs in Holland will range from product packing to skilled machine operators and shipping and receiving personnel.

There are currently openings for 26 hourly jobs and three full-time salaried positions.

Most of the job openings are for the second and third shifts.

“We’re very pleased to be adding a significant number of new stable, well-paid production and logistics jobs in West Michigan,” Tallman said.
