A hospital in the region has named the new head of its sleep center.

Allegan General Hospital said last month it hired Vishal Saini as medical director of its Sleep Center.

He replaces Patricia Seiler, who retired earlier this year.

Saini will oversee medical operations at the center.

“We are delighted to have Dr. Saini join our team,” said Gerald Barbini, president and CEO, Allegan General Hospital. “With his background and expertise, he will be a great addition.”

Saini said he’s “excited” to join the sleep medicine department.

“I look forward to helping all age groups with sleep-related concerns from pediatrics to geriatrics,” Saini said.

Saini’s background

Previously, Saini worked as a sleep medicine physician at Tony Balice Clinic in Ionia, a member of Sparrow Medical Group.

Saini is board certified in sleep medicine and family medicine.

He completed his residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and a sleep medicine fellowship at Wayne State University School of Medicine.

Sleep center

Allegan General Hospital’s Sleep Center diagnoses and treats common sleep disorders in adults and children, from sleep apnea to chronic insomnia.

It is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

Sleep specialists at the center evaluate sleep by studying brain activity and body systems throughout the night during a sleep study conducted in a private room at the hospital. If a disorder is detected, a specialist will help develop a plan for treatment.
