A hospital in the region has hired a new surgeon to its staff.

Dr. Christopher Koziara has joined the orthopedic team at Allegan General Hospital.

Koziara offers a comprehensive range of orthopedic services, including foot and ankle care, sports medicine and total joint replacement.

Most recently, Koziara completed a fellowship in orthopedic foot and ankle surgery at the Michigan International Foot and Ankle Center in Pontiac under Dr. Arthur Manoli II.

He completed his orthopedic surgery residency with Beaumont Health/the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Taylor and graduated from the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit.

“I really enjoy the family atmosphere at Allegan General Hospital and the personalized care they provide to the community,” Koziara said. “I think the care and comfort a patient receives plays a big part in the healing process.”

Koziara said he likes to spend time getting to know his patients.

“I focus on the patient's expectations and needs to ensure they are educated in treatment options and outcomes,” Koziara said. “We then work together as a team, the patient and I, to create the best possible outcome in relation to their treatment goals.”

Prior to pursuing a career in medicine, Koziara worked as an engineer for six years in the auto industry, where he was the co-inventor of three U.S. patents.
