A hotel management company has acquired a hotel in the region.

Suburban Inns is acquiring the CityFlatsHotel of Holland effective Dec. 18, the company said this week.

The 55,581-square-foot hotel contains 56 rooms and is LEED Gold certified. The hotel has 75 employees. Suburban Inns said no changes are planned for the Holland hotel.

Cost of the transaction was not disclosed.

The Hudsonville-based company purchased the Holland hotel from Charles Reid, who also owns the CityFlatsHotels in Grand Rapids and Port Huron, as well as Zeeland-based Charter House Innovations, a designer and manufacturer of custom seating and décor.

The Holland hotel was opened in 2008 as a showroom for Charter House products. The company opened Sperry’s Moviehouse as a second showroom for its traditional products as well as those of a recently acquired theater chair company.

“So, the timing was perfect when Suburban Inns called asking if I wanted to sell our hotel,” Reid said.

Suburban Inns said the acquisition allows for the opportunity to “further expand the relationship between Charter House and Suburban Inns to explore the further development of the CityFlatsHotel brand.”

“This is the first boutique hotel among our other properties, which are all affiliated with major national brands,” said Pete Beukema, CEO, Suburban Inns.
