A local manufacturer will host a job fair next week to fill 150-plus positions at several of its plants in the Kentwood area.

Cascade Township-based Lacks Enterprises said it will host a job fair from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday at the Lacks Employment Center, 4949 Broadmoor Ave. SE in Kentwood.

Lacks is looking to add workers across all shifts in general labor, forklift/Hi-Lo operations and skilled trades such as maintenance electricians, maintenance mechanics and plastic mold die-setters.

Pay rates start at $12-$13 per hour and wages will go up from there depending on the job. Lots of overtime is available.

“At Lacks, we invest in our employees for the long term, and that includes providing generous benefits to support the growth and future education of our employees,” said Jim Green, executive director of human resources at Lacks Enterprises. “As manufacturing ramps back up across Michigan, we’re focused on growing our team to meet the increased demand.”

The company is seeking motivated individuals who wish to be a part of a positive work culture. As a company committed to caring for its employees, Lacks provides:

  • 401(k) matching
  • Profit-sharing
  • Health care (comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance; primary care clinic)
  • Choose Well, Live Well Program: progressive tools and resources to live healthily
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Internal training: Multiple apprenticeship opportunities, professional development and ongoing education to stay up to date on the industry’s latest developments

Lacks said it is committed to providing a safe work environment for employees and job candidates. All job fair attendees will be required to wear a mask while in the building, and the company will encourage social-distancing practices. Hand sanitizers also will be present throughout the building.

New employees of Lacks at every level will have the ability to participate in activities in their community, including volunteer work, mentoring, public service, amateur sports leagues and other company-supported initiatives.
