A workforce development agency will conduct phone interviews this week as it seeks to help over 30 employers fill hundreds of job openings.

West Michigan Works! said it will host a remote job fair June 24-25 to connect employers and candidates in Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, Muskegon and Ottawa counties.

This week, job seekers can register for 15-minute phone interviews with local employers to discuss their skills and qualifications and learn more about open positions.

Participating employers represent the manufacturing, health care, IT and retail industries. Some of West Michigan’s largest employers, including Mercy Health, Kraft Heinz, Perrigo and Amazon, are registered.

Available positions range from entry level to highly skilled.

This is the third remote job fair the agency has held since the COVID-19 pandemic hit Michigan in March.

“Our virtual job fair concept is a proven model to efficiently and safely connect job seekers with companies who have immediate needs to increase their workforces to meet demand,” said Amy Lebednick, business solutions director for West Michigan Works!

“We are encouraging job seekers to have their résumés prepared and to research the companies before meeting with hiring managers. West Michigan Works! offers free virtual résumé resources on our website, and (we) have talent development specialists available to help candidates prepare for interviews.”

Those who are interested can view the list of participating employers and register for phone interviews at westmiworks.org/virtual-job-fair.

West Michigan Works! also finalized plans for a separate Spectrum Health is Hiring virtual hiring event from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. June 23. The event will feature same-day hiring.

Job seekers can sign up for a 20-minute phone call to discuss job opportunities and their qualifications and experience. Open positions include cook, nutrition services associates and environmental services associates. Full- and part-time opportunities with varying shifts are available with no health care experience required. On-site training will be provided.
