Muskegon Heights-based Hurricane Power has sold a product line to the outdoor equipment manufacturer Briggs & Stratton.

Wauwatosa, Wisconsin-based Briggs & Stratton acquired Hurricane’s commercial lawn debris blower product line, Stand-On, and associated intellectual property and trademarks, according to Rick Carpenter, head of communications, Briggs & Stratton.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

While Carpenter did not confirm if Briggs & Stratton acquired the entire company, he said Rick Weihl, the owner and founder of Hurricane, is now the “former owner of these assets” and “will play a role in transitioning the assets.”

Briggs & Stratton did not indicate if there will be any staffing changes at Hurricane.

Weihl could not be reached by press time.

Hurricane’s website displays three products: two Stand-On blowers and one Walker attachment.

Carpenter said the Stand-On line will be part of Briggs & Stratton's Turf and Consumer Products Group, and the company expects to “use the Hurricane name in some fashion.”
