An ice cream maker plans to expand its packaging operations in the region.

The maker of Hudsonville Ice Cream is investing $863,300 to purchase new machinery and equipment that will expand and diversify the packaging line at its facility in Holland, at 345 E. 48th St., according to Lakeshore Advantage.

The expansion will create three new jobs and will allow the company to expand its customer base and increase utilization of Michigan milk and cream, said Lakeshore Advantage, the Zeeland-based economic development organization.

The Michigan Commission of Agriculture and Rural Development approved a Food and Agriculture Investment Fund grant of $175,000 for the project.
