A local ice cream shop has purchased a vintage truck to cruise the streets for frozen-treat lovers.
Furniture City Creamery in Grand Rapids said last week it finished refurbishing a 1970 Ford refrigerated truck from the Detroit area and is ready to go mobile this summer.
“This new venture allows us to serve larger parties and events in style and makes our catering options more versatile,” said Rachel Franko, Furniture City Creamery co-owner, along with her husband, Matt Franko. “Keep an eye out for us cruising through your neighborhood and about town this summer.”
The truck will serve Grand Rapids-area businesses and residents the company’s made-from-scratch ice creams and frozen treats.
People can make reservations for a visit from the truck online or by contacting Dana Jackson at (616) 485-6145 or dana at furniturecitycreamery dot com.

Founded in 2015 by Rachel Franko, Furniture City Creamery operates out of a 496-square-foot shop in the Cherry Hill shopping district.
The shop produces 200 gallons of dairy and vegan frozen concoctions each week and offers “pup cups” for four-legged customers.
The business has seven to nine employees, depending on the season.
